Most routine results are ready the same day. Specialist tests are handled through our laboratory network, and we'll tell you the expected date when we take your sample. Some tests need special collection or transport, so please check with us before you come.

How to prepare
Good preparation gives you a more reliable result. If you're not sure what applies to your test, ask us before you come.
Fasting
For fasting glucose and lipid tests, eat nothing for 8 to 12 hours before your sample. You may drink plain water.
Your medicines
Tell us about any medicines or supplements you take. Don't stop a prescribed medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
Urine samples
Use the clean container we give you. Collect a midstream sample, ideally the first urine of the morning, and bring it in quickly.
Stool samples
Use a clean, dry container and keep the sample free of urine and water. Bring it to us as soon as you can.
24-hour urine
Ask us for the container and instructions first. Every drop passed over the 24 hours must be collected.
Timed tests
Some hormone and medicine-level tests depend on the time of day, your cycle or your last dose. Check with us before you come.
